Position: Safety and Security Officer

Location: Ethiopia (Various Regions)

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Admin and Logistics Manager, the Safety and Security Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing security management systems and procedures, ensuring the safety and security of staff, assets, and operations. This role involves collaborating with field operational staff, building networks with local authorities and stakeholders, and providing strategic advice to the Senior Management Team (SMT) during crises.

General Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement security management systems and procedures.
• Provide strategic advice to the SMT based on changes in the security context.
• Minimize security risks to staff, assets, and operations.
• Establish and maintain networks with local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Organize security risk analyses and develop security management plans.
• Provide security training and briefings to staff and visitors.
• Ensure the safety and security of Amref buildings and facilities.
• Conduct regular security assessments and monitor incidents.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Security Management or related field.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a similar role.
• Good knowledge of MS Office and computer tools.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluency in English and Amharic; knowledge of other local languages is a plus.
• Previous experience in Amhara, Oromia, Afar, SNNPR, or Somali regions preferred.
