Job Vacancy: Office Engineer at Barcon Engineering

Barcon Engineering, operating under the trade name Blihan Haile Maiko, invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Office Engineer. The selected candidate will provide crucial technical and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of project activities at the head office.

Position: Office Engineer

Position Summary:

The Office Engineer will support the project team by maintaining project documentation, assisting in tender document preparation, coordinating project activities, and ensuring project compliance with standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Documentation: Maintain and organize all project-related documents including contracts, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Tender Document Preparation: Assist in preparing technical documents for tenders, coordinating with various departments to gather necessary information.
  • Coordination: Facilitate communication between the project team, consultants, sub-contractors, and client representatives.
  • Scheduling: Support the development and tracking of project schedules to ensure timely completion of milestones and deadlines.
  • Cost Control: Monitor project costs and assist in budget management to keep the project within budget.
  • Quality Assurance: Support quality control activities, reviewing project plans and ensuring compliance with required standards and specifications.
  • Compliance: Ensure all project activities adhere to relevant regulations and company policies, preparing compliance reports as needed.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to the project team, interpreting construction drawings and resolving technical issues.
  • Communication: Prepare and distribute project-related correspondence such as meeting minutes and progress reports.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction or a related field, focusing on office engineering, project coordination, or tender document preparation.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., AutoCAD, WaterCAD, MS Project, Primavera P6) and office software (e.g., MS Office Suite).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
