DHL Global Forwarding Ethiopia is looking for an Import Operations Specialist to join their team.
Position: Import Operations Specialist
Location: Ethiopia
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Relationship Management: Establish and maintain relationships with existing customers. Handle customer complaints and inquiries promptly and efficiently.
- Client Updates: Keep clients updated as per the agreed terms during onboarding.
- Customer Service: Provide high levels of customer service with a sense of urgency.
- System Implementation: Assist the IP Team Leader with implementing new systems or updates in CW1.
- Shipment Coordination: Arrange for the movement of shipments from pickup to delivery at the customer’s premises or Djibouti Port. Book with carriers and update CW1 remarks with booking information.
- Documentation Support: Help the GSC with the required documentation to open files and ensure correct file opening. Share documents with the CDZ team for customs clearance and prepare customs entries.
- Quality Check: Ensure quality checks of documentation before lodging processes. Process OBLs following stipulated procedures.
- Shipment Monitoring: Monitor and follow up on shipments until delivery. Send uplift confirmations/pre-alerts to customers.
- Billing and Closing: Bill and close shipments in CW1 post-departure and handle customer messaging. Upload shipping documents into the DHL EDoc system.
- Milestone Updates: Ensure all milestones are updated as per targets.
- File Resolution: Resolve and close all sick files.
Qualification and Experience:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related fields.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in import and export operations via road, ocean, air, and rail. Experience in transportation, logistics, freight management, pricing, commercials, and operations. Project cargo handling experience is required.
