Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) Job Vacancy Announcement

The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) invites qualified and competent applicants to apply for the following vacant positions.

1. Human Rights Officer, Transitional Justice

📌 Purpose of the Job:
To support the Strategic Engagement and Special Projects Unit in the Program and Partnership Department (SESP-PPD) on transitional justice (TJ) by contributing to capacity building, monitoring, victim support, research, advocacy, and ensuring the TJ process is human rights compliant, inclusive, participatory, and victim-centered.

📌 Qualifications & Experience:

LLM/LLB degree in Law, Human Rights Law, International Law, Transitional Justice, Conflict Studies, Peace and Security, or Humanitarian Law
4 years of relevant experience for LLB holders and 2 years for LLM holders
Experience in human rights and/or transitional justice
Computer literacy required
Fluency in Amharic and English (Knowledge of other local languages is an advantage)

📍 Place of Work: Head Office, Addis Ababa

2. Senior Human Rights Officer, Transitional Justice

📌 Purpose of the Job:
To provide technical advice and capacity building, monitor the TJ process, support victims, advocate for human rights, and conduct research to ensure the process is human rights compliant, inclusive, participatory, and victim-centered.

📌 Qualifications & Experience:

LLM/MA in Human Rights, International Law, Public Laws relevant to Human Rights, Transitional Justice, Conflict Studies, Peace and Security, or Humanitarian Law
Strong technical understanding of international human rights and/or humanitarian law principles
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) holders with exceptional experience may also be considered
5 years of relevant experience for LLM/MA holders
Experience in human rights and transitional justice
Computer literacy required
Fluency in Amharic and English (Knowledge of other local languages is an advantage)

📍 Place of Work: Head Office, Addis Ababa

📅 Duration: One-year contract with the possibility of extension

💰 Salary Range:

Gross Monthly Salary: ETB 23,126.00 – 26,219.00
Housing Allowance: ETB 8,640.00
Transport Allowance: ETB 3,300.00
(Salary depends on qualifications, experience, and earning history)
