Position: Fixed Asset Accountant

Job Purpose:

The Fixed Asset Accountant will maintain fixed assets, calculate depreciation for book and tax purposes, and provide accurate accounting data related to fixed assets.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Review and record fixed asset transactions (addition, disposal, and transfer) in the accounting system per IFRS.
Work closely with other departments to understand business transactions regarding new assets and asset termination, providing guidance on fixed asset accounting.
Reconcile the fixed asset sub-ledger balance to the general ledger.
Update and maintain a detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
Prepare month-end fixed asset reconciliations and supporting documentation.
Run depreciation for fixed assets, review for reasonableness, and post to the general ledger.
Investigate potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, and book and tax depreciation.
Allocate tag numbers to fixed assets for continuous tracking.
Lead identification of fixed assets for disposal, ensuring proper documentation and recommendations.
Recommend updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Qualification:

BSc or MSc Degree in Accounting, Accounting and Finance, Management, Business Administration, or related fields.

Experience:

4 years of experience for BSc/BA holders.
2 years of experience for MSc/MA holders.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Time management skills.
Familiarity with Peachtree accounting software.
