📘 Organization Profile

SOS Sahel Ethiopia is a registered humanitarian and development organization that has been operating in Ethiopia since 1989. It focuses on improving the living standards of farmers and herders by promoting sustainable environmental management and equitable access to agricultural and natural product markets. Currently, the organization operates in Oromia, Sidama, South & Central Ethiopia regions.

📄 Project Background

The TRANSFORM program (2025–2028) is a consortium initiative led by IFDC, in partnership with Wageningen Research (SWR/WENR), World Soil Information (ISRIC), SOS Sahel Ethiopia, and Environment and Coffee Forest Forum (ECFF), with collaboration from government stakeholders (MoA, EIAR, RARIS). It focuses on soil health and fertility management through Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM) approaches.

📝 Job Summary

The Community Development Facilitator (CDF) will implement the TRANSFORM Program at the district/kebele level. The CDF will support small-scale farmers by promoting ISFM practices, working collaboratively with local government, communities, and partners to ensure sustainable land use and increased productivity.

🛠️ Duties and Responsibilities

Facilitate community engagement using participatory, bottom-up approaches
Support soil fertility management and promote use of organic inputs (compost, lime, bone char, etc.)
Collaborate with local development agents (DAs) and woreda experts to assess soil input demand
Provide technical support to farmers and extension agents
Facilitate participatory action research and business incubation
Establish and strengthen multi-stakeholder partnerships with local institutions
Conduct training and capacity building for farmers and DAs
Monitor and report project activities and budget implementation
Support the dissemination of soil health and fertility practices
Ensure safeguarding practices in project communities
Submit regular progress and financial reports
Promote the organization’s values and policies

🎓 Educational Qualifications

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, or related fields

🧪 Experience Requirements

Minimum 5 years (B.Sc.) or 3 years (M.Sc.) of relevant work experience, preferably in NGO or agricultural research settings
Proven experience in soil health, community facilitation, and private sector agribusiness engagement
Familiarity with scaling pathways and participatory extension approaches
