This program offers emerging talents the chance to gain hands-on experience, professional mentoring, and networking opportunities within the L4R (Livelihoods for Resilience) project in the Sidama Regional State (Bilate Zuria Woreda).
General Program Overview
- Duration: One-year contract.
- Target Group: Female Fresh Graduates (0 years of experience).
- Location: Sidama Region, Bilate Zuria Woreda (Kebeles).
- Project Context: The L4R project aims to improve gender norms, access to assets, and decision-making for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
1. Intern – Gender and Economic Strengthening
Job Summary:
Assist frontline staff in implementing gender-responsive activities. You will support the integration of gender components across the L4R project, focusing on economic empowerment and social inclusion.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Gender and GBV (Gender-Based Violence) assessments.
- Support training need assessments and help design gender-focused training for government offices.
- Facilitate VESA (Village Economic and Social Association) groups, financial literacy, and business skill training.
- Prepare learning briefs, technical reports, and documentation of best practices.
- Ensure equitable representation of marginalized groups in project planning.
- Education Requirements: * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Gender and Development, Psychology, Social Studies, or related fields.
2. Intern – Livelihood and Food Security
Job Summary:
Based at the community level, this role supports activities aimed at improving food security. You will participate in field visits, community mobilization, and monitoring climate-smart agricultural practices.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Mobilize communities for livelihood and food security awareness.
- Assist in facilitating training for farmers on climate-smart agriculture and rainwater harvesting.
- Support VESA groups in business planning and income-generating activities (IGAs).
- Participate in market and value chain assessments to identify alternative livelihood options.
- Assist in data collection and documentation of community experiences.
- Education Requirements: * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Agricultural Economics, Agri-business, or related fields.
3. Intern – WASH and Natural Resource/Watershed Management
Job Summary:
This role focuses on improving climate-resilient watershed management and access to safe water and sanitation (WASH) for marginalized groups.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in mapping watershed areas and resource analysis.
- Support community mobilization for water source protection and natural resource conservation.
- Participate in soil and water conservation practices to reduce erosion and improve efficiency.
- Help rehabilitate hand-washing facilities and water reservoirs.
- Support the development of inclusive Community Adaptation Plans (CAPs).
- Education Requirements: * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Water Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Hydrology, Environmental Science, or related fields.
Desired Skills & Attributes (For All Positions)
- Languages: Excellent written and verbal skills in Sidaamu Afoo and English are required.
- Technical: Good computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel).
- Interpersonal: Quick learner, team player, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Attitude: A firm belief in gender equality and sensitivity to vulnerable groups (youth, persons with disabilities).
