Amref Health Africa invites qualified and motivated professionals to apply for the position of Project Assistant to support its initiatives in Ethiopia.


Position: Project Assistant

  • Location: Dimeka and Jinka, Ethiopia

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and submit periodic activity and budget plans in collaboration with the program officer.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports.
  • Work with project staff, health facilities, and government sector offices to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Use existing guidelines and materials to maintain high-quality standards in project execution.
  • Manage procurement plans and raise purchase requisitions as necessary.
  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, mentorships, and post-training follow-ups.
  • Participate in supportive supervision and technical evaluations in intervention areas.
  • Represent Amref in technical meetings and workshops at various levels.
  • Contribute to research and development of innovative project concepts.
  • Document and share lessons learned, best practices, and case studies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, or related fields.
    • Diploma in Health Science is optional.
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years in immunization and public health, with 2 years in routine immunization and surveillance.
    • Experience working in zonal or woreda structures is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in immunization data analysis and stakeholder presentations.
    • Expertise in adult learning techniques for training and supervision.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with DHIS2 is a plus.
    • Fluency in English and Amharic is mandatory; local language skills are advantageous.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Training in IIP (Immunization in Practice) is an added advantage.
    • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80%) to rural areas.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
