This role supports the “Promoting dignity and greater equality in the Ethiopian Garment Sector” project, funded by GIZ. The project aims to establish effective workplace mechanisms to address sexual harassment, exploitation, and abuse, and empower female garment workers in Adama Industrial Park to confidently report incidents without fear of negative consequences. It also fosters solidarity and leadership among female workers.

V. QUALIFICATIONS (KNOW HOW):

Expected to establish open relationships with the community, government counterparts, community-based organizations, and project staff.
VII. WORKING CONDITIONS:
The duty station is Adama City, Oromia region. The role strongly requires providing training and follow-up with garment workers during off-working hours (nights and weekends).
VIII. Duration of Work: 1 year.
Salary: 436 USD

I. JOB SUMMARY:
The Gender Officer for the Seize Water project in Debre Tabor will lead the project’s efforts towards quality and inclusion through capacity building, strategy development, and advocacy. You will be responsible for building the capacity of government partners and the community to understand and apply gender and other empowerment approaches, tools, and best practices. This will involve hands-on planning and facilitation of training workshops, coaching, mentoring, and influencing change through strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will report directly to the Sr. Project Manager at the Amhara field office and collaborate with other staff to ensure program quality and impact.

VII. LIVING CONDITIONS AND LEVEL OF TRAVEL REQUIRED:
This position is based in Debre Tabor with 80% travel to the target woredas and communities.
