The Ethiopian Deposit Insurance Fund (EDIF) is a statutory financial protection body in Ethiopia. The Fund is seeking a highly qualified, analytical, and experienced professional to join its financial management division as a permanent Senior Finance Officer.
Position: Senior Finance Officer

- Reporting Function: Works directly under the guidance of the Chief Accountant of the Fund.
Job Summary & Responsibilities
- Core Accounting: Identify, record, adjust, and post financial transactions. Periodically update income, expense, assets, liability, and reserve accounts of the Fund.
- Reporting & Reconciliation: Reconcile financial transactions, execute closing entries, and compile periodic financial statements (Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss statements, and Cash Flow statements).
- Budgeting & Treasury: Assess sources and uses of funds to prepare annual revenue, operational, and capital budgets. Monitor budget implementation, track variance metrics, manage the Fund’s active cash flow, and ensure timely collection of receivables and settlement of payables.
- Audit Preparedness: Maintain and organize comprehensive financial books and documentation for internal and external auditing processes.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Minimum of a First Degree (BA) or Second Degree (Master’s/MBA) in Management, Accounting, Accounting and Finance, Accounting and Auditing, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, or Business Management.
- Experience Baseline (Mandatory): * Minimum of 6 years of experience for First Degree (BA) holders.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience for Second Degree (Master’s) holders.
- Sector Requirement: All experience must be explicitly within the finance or accounting department of a financial institution (e.g., banks, microfiances, or insurance companies).
Core Competencies
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and capability to prioritize under tight reporting lines.
- High level of integrity, objectivity, financial transparency, and strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and financial accounting software packages.
