EthSwitch S.C. is Ethiopia’s National Switch, established to modernize the national payments system and enhance financial inclusion. EthSwitch is owned by all commercial banks (both private and public), the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), Microfinance Institutions (MFIs), Payment Instrument Issuers (PIIs), and Payment Service Operators (PSOs).

EthSwitch operates with the core mandate to create interoperability among financial institutions, implement the domestic payment scheme (Ethiopay), provide the National Payment Gateway, serve as the central interconnectivity infrastructure for clearing and settlement, and deliver shared platform services.

Position Overview

Position Title: Manager – Card Payment Switch Division

• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Duty Station: Anywhere / Addis Ababa

Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities

The Manager, Card Payment Switch Division is responsible for ensuring the efficient, secure, and effective operations of the card payment switch division.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop, and execute the division’s strategic plan in alignment with EthSwitch’s overall corporate goals.
• Oversee the onboarding, technical integration, and operational support of new financial institutions on the national switch platform.
• Drive the implementation and continuous enhancement of new products and services across Card, ATM, and POS transaction domains.
• Ensure high platform availability, operational excellence, compliance with international standards (such as PCI DSS), and smooth transaction processing.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Educational Qualification: * Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) or Master’s Degree (MSc) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields of study.
• Work Experience:
  • For BSc Holders: Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • For MSc Holders: Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Leadership Experience: At least 3 years of experience in senior officer or supervisory positions within relevant IT/e-payment operations.
