Addis Cardiac Hospital was established as a collaboration between four Swedish companies and five individuals, with its founding assembly held on September 30, 2006, at the Global Hotel in Addis Ababa. On October 3, 2006, the Ethiopian Investment Authority issued its investment license and registration certificate. Governed by the Commercial Code of Ethiopia and its founding documents, Addis Cardiac Hospital PLC operates as a state-of-the-art cardiovascular diagnostic and treatment facility, guided by the mission statement: ለልብዎ ከልብ እንሠራለን.
Open Position & Requirements
Nurse Professional
- Department: Nursing (Reporting to department heads in ICCU, Ward, or OPD; accountable to the Matron)
- Work Location: Addis Ababa
- Salary: As per the company scale
- Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Perform a full range of nursing assignments, interpret and carry out medical orders properly, monitor patients, and manage patient cases with organized handovers across shifts.
- Take vital signs, record ECGs, and instruct patients on the proper use of R-tests and 24-hour BP monitors.
- Prepare and provide health education at the reception site to waiting patients on selected hospital topics.
- Strictly follow safety and infection control policies for clinical testing, and promptly communicate critical lab values to the responsible physician.
- Perform required preparation and sterilization of dressings and clinic materials, adhere to QA/QC procedures, and report any lab result discrepancies to physicians.
- Maintain safe medication administration, check for order changes across shifts, and verify ambiguous or dangerous orders before execution.
- Monitor patient conditions closely, document observations properly, and promptly report abnormalities requiring physician intervention.
- Share call duty, work different shifts, and handle extended hours when necessary.
- Participate in patient satisfaction surveys and maintain adequate supplies of working materials.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical experience preferred for degree holders.
- Licensure & Certification: Licensed to practice in Ethiopia by FMHACA, with current and active certification from FMHACA in Clinical Nursing.
- Technical Knowledge & Skills: Basic computer knowledge (MS Word and Excel), strong communication, and problem-solving skills.
