Belisha Foundation is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable groups in Ethiopia. Through its holistic approach, the Foundation implements programs in cancer awareness and medical support, education assistance for children, and elderly care, partnering with various stakeholders including public hospitals, government agencies, civil society organizations, and communities.
Position Summary
The Program Coordinator will oversee the effective implementation of the Cancer Awareness and Support Project. This includes planning, coordinating, budgeting, stakeholder management, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. The role also involves leading resource mobilization and fundraising efforts to sustain the Foundation’s strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Coordination
- Develop and manage annual and quarterly work plans
- Oversee and coordinate cancer awareness campaigns, medical support, education, and elderly care programs
- Conduct field visits to monitor activities
Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage relationships with MoH, MoWSA, hospitals (e.g., Tikur Anbessa), CSOs, and schools
- Lead MOUs, partnership agreements, and advocacy efforts
Budget & Financial Oversight
- Collaborate with Finance/Admin team to monitor budgets and expenditures
- Resolve variances and ensure cost-effective use of resources
Project Development & Fundraising
- Identify funding opportunities and develop proposals
- Mobilize in-kind donations from corporate and community actors
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Implement M&E framework and lead project evaluations
- Prepare timely reports (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Document lessons learned and success stories
Job Requirements
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Project Management, or related fields (Master’s preferred)
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years (with Master’s) or 7 years (with Bachelor’s) in project/program coordination
- Experience in health, education, and social development sectors preferred
- Proven success in resource mobilization and proposal writing
Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of cancer-related support programs
- Knowledge of MERL, budget management, and community-based approaches
- Proficiency in MS Office; digital data tools are a plus
Behavioral Competencies
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills
- High-level communication skills in Amharic, Afan Oromo, and English
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
