ALIMA (The Alliance for International Medical Action) is an international humanitarian medical NGO that provides emergency care, healthcare, and nutrition support in 14 countries. With more than 13 million patients treated since 2009, ALIMA operates based on the values of proximity, innovation, neutrality, and alliance.
In Ethiopia, ALIMA has been operating since 2022 in Afder and Tigray regions, focusing on healthcare, nutrition, reproductive health, and emergency response in areas affected by conflict, drought, and limited infrastructure.
π― Job Summary
The MHNT Nurse will provide essential health and nutrition services to targeted communities via mobile clinics. The nurse is responsible for delivering consultations, patient treatment, referrals, and preventive services based on national and ALIMA guidelines.
π Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultations and patient care following national protocols (IMCI, CMAM, EPI, MNCH, etc.)
- Implement standard mobile health activities and ensure quality patient care
- Manage pharmacy stock and medical equipment for MHNT
- Perform rapid diagnostic tests and emergency treatment
- Supervise health workers (volunteers, HEWs, nutrition assistants, etc.)
- Collect and report data accurately from MHNT operations
- Facilitate referrals and coordinate with local health centers and community leaders
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of medical equipment
- Engage in mental health and psychosocial support (after training)
- Promote and implement ALIMAβs standards for abuse prevention, gender sensitivity, and community protection
π©ββοΈ Qualification & Experience
- Education:
- College Diploma or BSc Degree in Nursing
- Valid registration/practicing license
- Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years (for Diploma holders) or 2 years (for Degree holders) in clinical and mobile health work
- Hands-on experience with emergency cases, SAM/MAM management, and primary healthcare delivery
β Required Skills
- Proficient in patient care, clinical diagnosis, and emergency response
- Skilled in using rapid diagnostic tools and medication prescription
- Strong data collection, organization, and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to work independently in remote and resource-constrained settings
- Collaborative and adaptable with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English and Somali is essential (other local languages are a plus)
