The Union of Ethiopian Women and Children Associations (UEWCA) is a non-governmental, apolitical, non-religious consortium of 88 CSOs. Established in 2010, UEWCA serves as a platform to amplify the voices of its members and beneficiaries, and to capacitate and coordinate efforts towards women, girls, and children empowerment, gender equality, and women’s rights across Ethiopia.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as an Accountant. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing and overseeing financial management and timely reporting in compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.


Accountant

  • Reports to: Senior Accountant
  • Department: Finance and Administration Section
  • Place of Work: UEWCA Office, Addis Ababa
  • Required Candidate: One
  • Terms of Employment: One year with a possibility of extension.
  • Salary and Benefit: Negotiable

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and reports.
  • Code payment vouchers and files for data processing and/or payment.
  • Prepare balance sheet accounts and clear all reconciling items periodically.
  • Prepare relevant invoices to various clients for payment and maintain debtor’s accounts.
  • Update data in Peach Tree System.
  • Reconcile supplier’s statements against ledger statements daily.
  • Prepare payments reports to suppliers with numerous invoices for payment; check reports against corresponding invoices to be paid; maintain supplier’s ledger accounts and pass journal vouchers for necessary adjustments.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports.
  • Ensure maintenance of proper books of accounts, kept up to date within UEWCA policy guidelines.

Job Specification:

  • Qualification: BA Degree in Accounting and Finance.
  • Job Requirements: At least 3 years of relevant experience for BA Degree in Accounting and Finance. NGO experience is preferable.
