Job Description:
Safaricom Ethiopia is seeking an experienced finance expert to fill the role of Accounts Payable (AP) Manager. The AP Manager will lead a team, implement processes, and maintain strong internal controls to ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounts payable transactions. The role requires a leader with strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and complete accounts payable transactions, reconcile accounts, and process payments for suppliers in accordance with company policies and International Accounting Standards.
- Prepare payment projections for the treasury team to help with cash flow planning.
- Ensure timely payments to suppliers and resolve any reconciling items.
- Manage the employee expense claims process.
- Ensure correct application of taxes on invoices.
- Manage supplier issues from start to finish in a timely manner.
- Reconcile supplier statements and the accounts payable ledger.
- Verify all relevant documents (LPO, invoice, Goods Received Note, etc.) are available and matched before processing payments.
- Ensure accurate and complete schedules are submitted on time for reporting and auditing.
- Lead the month-end closing process and ensure accurate and timely reporting of costs.
- Train and supervise accounts payable team members.
- Prepare, analyze, and summarize financial data to support business operations.
- Deliver timely and accurate reports that satisfy statutory and business requirements.
- Understand tax requirements and process documents to comply with tax laws.
Qualifications:
- A business-related bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in finance with a specialization in financial accounting.
- Working experience in internal and external financial audits.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems such as Sage, Oracle, SUN system, or Hyperion.
- A qualification as an Accountant (CPA/ACCA/CIMA/ACA) is an added advantage.
- Must be self-driven, results-oriented, proactive, and able to work without supervision.
- Demonstrated strong numeric and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Good understanding of local applicable taxes.
- Ability to quickly identify risks and understand accounting implications.
