II. Background of the Organization

Buusaa Gonofaa Microfinance Institution S.C. (BG MFI) is a non-bank, profit-making financial institution licensed under Proclamation No. 40/1996 and supervised by the National Bank of Ethiopia. The Institution provides financial services to low- and middle-income groups, contributing to poverty reduction and economic empowerment.
Currently, BG MFI seeks to fill the Network Administrator position with competent and qualified candidates.


III. Job Summary

The Network Administrator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Institution’s data network to provide maximum performance and availability for system users.
He/she designs, installs, maintains, and supports LAN and WAN infrastructures at all branches, provides high-level technical support for network systems, and maintains up-to-date documentation, hardware, and software standards.


IV. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  • Design and configure enterprise network systems (LAN/WAN) based on business requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend network software and hardware for the enterprise system.
  • Install, configure, and manage network operating systems and server environments.
  • Administer and maintain computer networks and related systems software and applications.
  • Supervise and guide computer user support and network support specialists.
  • Monitor network performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure efficiency.
  • Evaluate server and peripheral hardware performance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Information Systems Department.

V. Educational Qualification and Experience

  • Education: Level IV or BA Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Experience: 5 years (for Level IV) or 3 years (for BA Degree) of relevant work experience.

VI. Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware (routers, firewalls, switches, access points).
  • Knowledge of server administration (Windows/Linux) and Active Directory.
  • Ability to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
