Shabelle Bank is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Internal Auditor Officer to join its team in Addis Ababa. This role is critical in evaluating risk management, internal controls, and governance processes, with a specific focus on the International Banking Department.


Position: Internal Auditor Officer

Job Summary: The Internal Auditor Officer ensures the Bank’s compliance with regulatory requirements and international banking standards (including Trade Finance, Forex, and SWIFT). The officer is responsible for identifying control weaknesses, assessing operational risks, and providing actionable recommendations to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Audit & Compliance: Conduct audits of international banking operations to ensure integrity in financial and operational processes.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain strong relations with corporate banking customers to understand their business nature and objectives.
  • Financial Advisory: Provide trusted financial advice to retain existing clients and stay competitive in the industry.
  • Resource Mobilization: Actively engage in the Bank’s resource mobilization campaigns and follow up with corporate clients.
  • Due Diligence: Ensure proper KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures and timely collateral valuations in coordination with the engineering division.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Education

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management, or related business fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of one to four (1–4) years of relevant banking experience, including roles as a Junior Auditor or similar auditing positions.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Banking Operations: Strong knowledge of international banking (Trade Finance, Foreign Exchange, and Correspondent Banking) is highly preferred.
  • Auditing Standards: Familiarity with internal control frameworks and risk management practices.
  • Core Skill: Advanced Auditing Skills.
