Team Purpose

The Logistics Team ensures compliance with Oxfam policies in all operational and administrative procedures. They provide professional, proactive, and solutions-oriented support for supply, warehouses, fleet management, and procurement to deliver program results efficiently.


Job Purpose

The Logistics Assistant supports the logistics team in managing supply, warehouses, fleet, and dispatching of goods. They ensure quality and compliance in supply chain management across Ethiopia, and provide assistance to field teams as needed.


Key Responsibilities

1. Warehouse & Stock Management:

  • Support warehouse operations and supervise loading/unloading
  • Process disposal of unserviceable items
  • Maintain stock data and reconciliation reports
  • Ensure health, safety, and security in the store

2. Supply Management:

  • Support procurement and payment processing
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, and ensure proper warehouse management
  • Maintain accurate documentation for accountability and audits

3. Asset Management:

  • Manage asset inventory and tracking systems
  • Organize asset counts and prepare reconciliation reports
  • Maintain asset and equipment in good working order

4. Fleet Management:

  • Assign vehicles per movement plans
  • Inspect vehicle conditions and maintain logbooks
  • Ensure vehicle documentation and insurance are current

5. Administration & Other Tasks:

  • Support sub-office logistics and administrative activities
  • Ensure supplier payments, utility bills, and document management are timely
  • Manage drivers and cleaners at the field office

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • BA in Supply/Logistics Management or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant INGO experience in supply/logistics
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing situations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Competence in logistics management software and Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles, gender equality, and Oxfam values

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of international development and human rights
  • Familiarity with local markets and zonal contexts
