Position Details

  • Job Title: Operations Centre Coordinator
  • Contract Duration: 2 years
  • Location: National Office, Addis Ababa (with regular field travel and occasional international travel)

Job Purpose

The Operations Centre Coordinator will manage the day-to-day operations of the Operations Centre, oversee journey, incident, medical, and communications management, and implement security systems to mitigate operational risks for staff across Ethiopia.


Major Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Manage staff safety systems and procedures
  • Focal point for all field security officers
  • Operational control of the Operations Centre and security incidents
  • Promote staff safety practices and conduct context analysis
  • Maintain maps of secure/insecure areas

Operational Coordination & Liaison

  • Support Security Risk Assessments and Country Risk Ratings
  • Implement Core Security Requirements
  • Manage vehicle tracking, movement planning, and crisis support
  • Develop and maintain communication systems

Networking & External Liaison

  • Represent WV in local NGO security networks
  • Build networks to share security information

Capacity Building & Technical Training

  • Develop and implement national office security capacity-building plans
  • Promote security awareness and monitor compliance

Reporting & Documentation

  • Produce daily context analysis and weekly security reports
  • Maintain journey management and communication systems
  • Collect, process, and manage all security-related data

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Sciences or related fields
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in security (public, private, NGO, or government)
    • Experience in high-security risk or conflict environments preferred
    • Experience with UN Agencies/NGOs is an advantage
  • Skills:
    • Strong ICT and computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Amharic
    • Crisis management, training, and operational planning
  • Certifications:
    • Police/Law Enforcement training
    • Valid Passport and Driver License
    • First Aid certification

Preferred:

  • Radio and satellite communication experience
  • Knowledge of AI and organizational security tools
  • Professional demeanor and adherence to World Vision Core Values

Work Environment

  • Regular travel between National Office and field offices
  • Non-standard work hours; may require response outside normal office hours
