EthSwitch S.C. is the National Switch of Ethiopia, collectively owned by the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), all public and private commercial banks, microfinance institutions (MFIs), payment instrument issuers (PIIs), and payment system operators (PSOs). Mandated to drive financial interoperability, implement domestic payment schemes, manage the National Payment Gateway, and provide shared infrastructure, EthSwitch is the central clearing and settlement backbone of the Ethiopian financial sector.
The institution is currently seeking qualified technical professionals to fill three (3) distinct engineering positions based in Addis Ababa on a definite contract period of one (1) year.
Open Positions & Specifications
1. Digital Payment Officer I
- Employment Type: Definite contract (1 Year)
- Location: Addis Ababa
- Education: BSc Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields of study.
- Experience: Prior relevant experience is an advantage (Fresh graduates with strong technical foundations are welcome to apply).
- Core Mandate: Assist in the daily technical operations, optimization, and maintenance of national digital payment systems. Participate in onboarding new financial institutions, monitor transaction interfaces, and perform regression testing when upgrades or modifications are deployed.
2. Card Payment Switch Officer I
- Employment Type: Definite contract (1 Year)
- Location: Addis Ababa
- Education: BSc Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields of study.
- Experience: Prior relevant experience is an advantage (Fresh graduates with strong technical foundations are welcome to apply).
- Core Mandate: Assist in the daily operations and preventative maintenance of the core card payment switch. Support the onboarding of financial institutions onto card payment switch products, assist in executing system tests during application updates, and provide direct technical support/escalation handling for institutional clients.
3. Digital Payment Officer II
- Employment Type: Definite contract (1 Year)
- Location: Addis Ababa
- Education: BSc Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields of study.
- Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years of direct, relevant experience in system integration or payment application testing.
- Core Mandate: Setup, test, and conduct rigorous User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on new digital payment integrations. Serve as a technical point of contact to troubleshoot institutional banking connection errors, monitor interface transaction data, and compile comprehensive internal and external technical reports.
