About Jimma University Secondary School

Jimma University, through its College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, operates Jimma University Secondary School as a center of educational excellence, innovation, and practical teacher training. The university is executing a targeted talent acquisition drive to recruit highly qualified, certified, and competent teaching professionals at the Lecturer level to join its secondary school faculty.

Eligible applicants meeting the specified academic standards, teaching criteria, and experience prerequisites are invited to apply for the open positions outlined below.

General Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria (Lecturer Level)

  • Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of secondary school teaching experience.
  • Performance Evaluation: Must have achieved a performance evaluation score of 85% or above for two consecutive academic years (covering 2017 E.C. and 2018 E.C.).
  • Thesis Requirement: Master’s Degree thesis evaluation grade must be “Very Good” or higher.
  • Age Limit: Must not exceed 45 years of age.
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA Standards:
    • General Applicants:
      • Master’s Degree (M.Sc./M.Ed./M.A.): 3.50 (or minimum 3.25 for specified streams)
      • Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc./B.Ed./B.A.): 3.25 (or minimum 3.00 for specified streams)
    • Female Applicants, Candidates with Disabilities, & Candidates from Developing/Pastoralist Regions:
      • Master’s Degree (M.Sc./M.Ed./M.A.): 3.15
      • Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc./B.Ed./B.A.): 2.50

Jimma University Secondary School – Faculty Positions

1. Mathematics Teacher – Lecturer Level (Quantity: 1)

Teaches high school mathematics; requires a B.Ed/B.Sc in Mathematics Teaching with a valid teaching license, alongside an M.Ed/M.Sc specialization in Mathematics.

2. History Teacher – Lecturer Level (Quantity: 1)

Teaches high school history; requires a B.Ed/B.A in History Teaching with a valid teaching license, alongside an M.Ed/M.A specialization in History.

3. Civic and Ethical Education Teacher – Lecturer Level (Quantity: 1)

Teaches civic and ethical education; requires a B.Ed/B.A in Civic and Ethical Education Teaching with a valid license, alongside an M.Ed/M.A specialization.

4. ICT / IT Teacher – Lecturer Level (Quantity: 1)

Teaches information and communications technology; requires a B.Ed/B.Sc in ICT/IT Teaching with a valid license, alongside an M.Ed/M.Sc specialization in ICT/IT.
