Key Purpose Statement
To lead and drive the implementation of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards and systems across the plant, ensuring strict compliance with The Coca-Cola Management System (TCCMS), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), legal requirements, and company policies while embedding a culture of continuous improvement, risk mitigation, operational excellence, and sustainable business performance.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- SHEQ Leadership & Governance:
- Provide strategic leadership and technical guidance on SHEQ matters across all plant operations.
- Drive continuous improvement of SHEQ systems in alignment with CCBA standards, TCCMS, GMP, and regulatory frameworks.
- Assist plant management in integrating key SHEQ objectives into daily production and strategic priorities.
- SHEQ Strategy Execution & Regulatory Compliance:
- Formulate and execute plant-level SHEQ plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Ensure total compliance with food safety, occupational health, safety, and environmental laws.
- Direct internal and external SHEQ audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, ensuring timely closure of action items.
- Risk Management & Safety Excellence:
- Foster a safety-first culture through proactive employee engagement and behavioral safety initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures to safeguard employees, consumers, assets, and the environment.
- Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis (RCA) and enforce preventive measures.
- Quality Assurance & Product Integrity:
- Maintain food safety and quality management systems to guarantee maximum product integrity and consistency.
- Monitor plant Quality Performance Indicators (QPIs) and resolve quality non-conformances or deviations promptly.
- Environmental Sustainability & Resource Stewardship:
- Drive environmental stewardship focused on water efficiency, energy conservation, and waste reduction.
- Ensure local environmental regulatory compliance and continuous improvement in resource utilization.
- Incident & Crisis Management:
- Lead plant crisis response teams for safety, quality, or environmental emergency events.
- Oversee reporting, root cause investigation, and preventive planning to maintain operational resilience.
- Capability Development & Stakeholder Management:
- Build team technical capacity via targeted training, coaching, and mentorship programs.
- Represent the organization during regulatory body engagements, certification audits, and internal leadership reviews.
Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
- Work Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive Quality Control (QC) or SHEQ experience within the beverage or FMCG manufacturing industry.
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial leadership role.
- Proven track record in establishing and executing SHEQ management systems in an industrial/manufacturing setup.
Core Technical Skills & Competencies
- Deep knowledge of Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) systems, TCCMS, and GMP standards.
- Familiarity with local Ethiopian environmental, health, and labor legal/regulatory requirements.
- Mastery of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Trend Analysis, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Budgeting, financial resource management, and cost control for SHEQ initiatives.
- Strong leadership, coaching, people management, and cross-functional team coordination skills.
- High action orientation, strategic systems thinking, decision-making, and risk management capabilities.
