WI strengthens community-level healthcare services through training, support tools, and systems like the Willows Box System (WBS)—a client management model enabling Health Extension Workers (HEWs) to offer personalized and timely counseling, referral, and follow-up services.
Willows International Ethiopia works closely with local partners and the global office to ensure access to quality reproductive health services and sustainable behavioral change.
Job Summary
The Finance and Operations Manager will oversee the financial and operational functions of the Ethiopia country office. Reporting directly to the Country Director and coordinating closely with the Global Finance Director, the position ensures sound financial management, compliance, reporting, procurement, and operational support for program activities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Manage accounts and ledgers in compliance with accounting standards and local regulations.
- Monitor expenditure and cash flow; prepare monthly Budget Performance Reports.
- Support budgeting, donor reporting, and financial forecasting.
- Maintain bank accounts, petty cash, payroll, and tax filings.
- Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements and coordinate external audits.
Operational Support
- Oversee procurement and vendor contracts to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage lease agreements and inventory records; supervise assets.
- Maintain personnel records, attendance tracking, and HR files.
- Lead operational policy updates in coordination with HQ and Country Director.
Compliance and Reporting
- Prepare monthly closing documentation and financial reports to the USA office.
- Ensure Ethiopian labor law and tax compliance.
- Monitor implementation sites to ensure financial and operational standards are upheld.
Other Duties
- Participate in strategic planning, internal reviews, and audits.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Country Director or USA HQ.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA/ACCA) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in a finance role within an NGO in Ethiopia.
- Proven knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting systems.
- Familiarity with Ethiopian tax, audit, HR, and labor laws.
