Logistics and Transport Officer

About the Job:

The Logistics and Transport Officer will be responsible for the end-to-end movement, storage, and distribution of goods, ensuring timely delivery and optimized supply chain operations. This position plays a critical function in route planning, transportation coordination, inventory tracking, and logistics reporting. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, carriers, and warehouse staff to support the company’s supply chain effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supply Chain Coordination:
    • Manage the flow of goods from origin to destination.
    • Ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
    • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels.
    • Coordinate with warehouse teams on barley shipments.
    • Work closely with barley source teams to ensure truck availability as per demand.
    • Monitor competitor transportation prices and optimize Boortmalt’s transportation costs.
  2. Transportation Management:
    • Plan and schedule efficient, safe, and cost-effective transport routes.
    • Coordinate daily operations with transportation providers and logistics partners.
    • Ensure dispatch and delivery timelines are consistently met.
    • Prevent truck detention at all warehouse and plant locations.
    • Broaden and manage the transportation provider base, upholding safety, legal, and performance standards.
    • Verify transport companies hold valid licenses and meet Boortmalt’s safety and operational requirements.
    • Ensure all transport partners have mandatory insurance coverage.
    • Conduct due diligence and background checks before engaging transport vendors.
    • Monitor and set standards for losses during grain transport.
    • Manage logistics related to grain import and export operations, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
    • Identify and leverage synergies with customer transportation, particularly in malt distribution, to reduce costs and increase operational efficiency.
  3. Inventory and Warehouse Stock Management:
    • Track inventory levels and manage stock movements in the warehouse and plant, aligning with planning and warehouse teams.
    • Closely follow warehouse operations to ensure accurate and efficient shipments.
    • Implement procedures for shipment inventory control and reconciliation.
  4. Communication and Coordination:
    • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, carriers, warehouse personnel, field teams, and internal departments.
    • Ensure alignment of logistics operations with business needs and priorities.
  5. Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    • Prepare and maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and logistics activities.
    • Ensure all documents comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  6. Reporting and Analysis:
    • Generate regular reports on logistics KPIs, delivery performance, inventory status, and cost efficiency.
    • Support data-driven decision-making by providing insights and recommendations.
    • Identify and develop project opportunities focused on transport modality improvements, supporting long-term strategic growth.
  7. Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution:
    • Address and resolve logistical issues such as shipment delays, damages, or inventory discrepancies.
    • Proactively identify process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
  8. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to transportation laws, safety standards, and company policies.
    • Monitor and implement best practices in logistics compliance and risk management.
  9. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with production teams to support operational goals.
    • Contribute to strategic planning and process improvements across the department.

About You:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations.
