External Vacancy Announcement: Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC)

The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is seeking qualified and committed professionals to fill the following positions.


1. Senior Resource Mobilization Specialist

  • Report to: Senior Director, Program and Partnership
  • Purpose of the Job: To secure sustainable funding and partnerships for EHRC. You’ll identify and pursue donor opportunities, manage the full proposal development process, and build strategic relationships to support EHRC’s human rights mission.
  • Main Duties:
    • Gather and share information on donor priorities and trends.
    • Maintain the resource mobilization tracker.
    • Identify and assess potential funding opportunities and grant forecasts.
    • Write customized concept notes and proposals in coordination with team leads.
    • Develop and execute a target-oriented resource mobilization plan.
    • Manage and develop strategic partnerships with donors, government bodies, corporations, and academia.
    • Implement donor communication and stewardship plans.
  • Qualifications and Experience:
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Rights, International Relations, Development Studies, Economics, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage. Additional certification in fundraising or grant writing is desirable.
    • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in resource mobilization, partnership development, or fundraising within international organizations, NGOs, or donor agencies.
    • Skills: Proven track record in securing large-scale funding, experience in proposal writing and grant management, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, strong research and analytical skills, and computer literacy.
  • Salary: Gross monthly salary of ETB 25,756.00 – ETB 30,676.00, plus ETB 12,000.00 Housing allowance and ETB 3,300.00 Transport allowance.

2. Personal Assistant

  • Report to: Director, Socio-Economic Rights
  • Purpose of the Job: To assist employees with disabilities, enabling them to function successfully in their roles.
  • Main Duties:
    • Provide support with physical tasks like filing, retrieving materials, and navigating the office.
    • Accompany the employee to meetings, workshops, and for work-related travel.
    • Read handwritten or hardcopy materials to employees with visual disabilities.
    • Serve as a sighted guide and assist with personal care tasks if needed.
    • Convert inaccessible texts into accessible formats.
  • Qualifications and Experience:
    • Education: BA or Diploma (Level IV Certificate) in any Social Science Studies.
    • Experience: 0 years of experience with a BA degree, or 2 years of experience as a Personal Assistant, Secretarial Service, or in Office Management with a Diploma (Level IV Certificate).
    • Skills: Commitment to working with persons with disabilities, computer literacy, and knowledge of Amharic.
  • Salary: Gross monthly salary of ETB 8,536.00 – ETB 9,667.00, plus ETB 4,320.00 Housing allowance and ETB 3,300.00 Transport allowance.

3. Senior Finance and Administration Officer

  • Report to: Director, Finance and Admin
  • Purpose of the Job: To oversee the financial management, payroll, and administrative tasks of the city office, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all accounting activities.
  • Main Duties:
    • Implement and monitor internal control policies.
    • Prepare and reconcile financial reports, including monthly closing entries and general ledger accounts.
    • Review and analyze financial data, and provide recommendations for optimizing accounting systems.
    • Oversee budget preparation and ensure timely accounts for all funds.
    • Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
    • Act as the HR focal person for the city office, ensuring adherence to HR policies and addressing employee requests.
    • Monitor procurement of goods and services.
  • Qualifications and Experience:
    • Education: BA Degree in Accounting and Finance.
    • Experience: 6 years of relevant experience.
    • Skills: Experience and knowledge of IFMIS and IFRS is required. Experience with various donors is a plus. Computer literacy, knowledge of Amharic, and proficiency in other local languages are advantageous.
  • Salary: Gross monthly salary of ETB 23,126.00 – ETB 26,219.00, plus ETB 8,640.00 Housing allowance and ETB 3,300.00 Transport allowance.
