Global Health Corps Sub-Saharan Africa Fellowship Program 2024/2025: Empowering Young Professionals in Public Health

Global Health Corps (GHC) is seeking passionate and skilled young professionals for its Sub-Saharan Africa Fellowship Program. This fully funded opportunity places fellows in high-impact organizations for a year, where they contribute significantly to their placement organizations and communities. The program includes leadership training and integration into GHC’s global network.

Eligibility Requirements

By the start of the fellowship, applicants must:

  • Be 30 years of age or younger.
  • Hold a bachelor’s or undergraduate university degree.
  • Be proficient in English.
  • Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, or Zimbabwe.

Fellowship Countries

Citizens and legal permanent residents of all 13 eligible countries can apply for up to three total roles in any of GHC’s four operating countries.

  • Malawian citizens can apply for national roles in Malawi (M-Nat) and international roles in Rwanda (R-Int), Uganda (G-Int), and Zambia (Z-Int).
  • Citizens or legal permanent residents of Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, or Zimbabwe can apply for international roles in any of the four placement countries – Malawi (M-Int), Rwanda (R-Int), Uganda (G-Int), and Zambia (Z-Int).

Benefits

GHC fellows receive a living stipend based on location, taking into consideration local economic indicators. Additional benefits include:

  • Housing or a housing allowance.
  • Health insurance.
  • Payment for travel to/from the placement site, as well as GHC training and retreats for the fellowship’s duration.

Timeline

  • Applications open on December 5, 2023.
  • Priority applications are due by January 2, 2024, for priority consideration.
  • Applications close on January 10, 2024, at 5pm GMT.
  • Recommendation forms are due on January 24, 2024, at 12:00 PM EST.

GHC reviews applications from January to February, conducts interviews in March and April, and makes offers starting in late April. The fellowship begins at the Training Institute in July 2024.
