External Vacancy Announcement: UNDP (United Nations Development Programme)

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been active in Ethiopia since 1981, focusing on poverty alleviation, democratic governance, and climate-resilient development. UNDP is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the Regional Programme in Addis Ababa.


Position: Intern – Regional Programme Support

Role Summary: This internship is designed for students or recent graduates looking to gain experience in international development, peacebuilding, and the rule of law. The intern will assist in project implementation, communications, and administrative tasks within a fast-paced, multicultural environment.

  • Education (One of the following is required):
    • Enrolled in a postgraduate degree (Master’s or higher).
    • Enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree.
    • Recently graduated (within the last year) with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Fields of Study: Development, Peace and Security, Social Science, Political Science, Sociology, Public Policy, Law, Human Rights, or related disciplines.
  • Experience: 0 years (No professional experience required).
  • Duration: 6 months (Consecutive).
  • Location: UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA), Addis Ababa.

Key Requirements & Skills

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal English skills; strong copywriting and editing abilities.
  • Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Interpersonal: Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of project implementation or public relations.
