The UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA) is currently seeking high-caliber, motivated fresh graduates and students for a highly competitive Governance and Rule of Law Internship.
Position Overview
- Job Title: Intern – Governance and Rule of Law

- Duration: Baseline commitment of 3 months consecutive, full-time engagement.
- Duty Station: UNDP RSCA Office – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Eligibility Criteria & Educational Pathways
To qualify for the competitive selection filter, applicants must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:
- Pathway A: Currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (such as a Master’s program or higher).
- Pathway B: Currently enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (such as a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Pathway C: Have recently graduated with a university degree in an eligible field and are ready to commence the internship within exactly one year of graduation.
- Pathway D: Currently enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertaking the internship as part of that curriculum.
Eligible Fields of Study:
Governance, Peace and Security, Development Studies, Political Science, Sociology, Public Policy, Law, Human Rights, or a closely related Social Science discipline.
Key Competencies & Technical Skills
- Core Alignment: A strong, demonstratable interest in local and international governance, structural peacebuilding, and rule of law dynamics.
- Communication Stack: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. Must exhibit strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading abilities with a sharp eye for detail.
- Technical Proficiency: Fluent capability running the Microsoft Office Suite and associated digital collaboration software. Prior exposure or knowledge in communications, public relations, or media editing workflows is a distinct advantage.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work efficiently in a high-velocity environment, prioritize multi-track deadlines, and operate productively inside highly diverse, multicultural teams.
- Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory. Working knowledge of French is highly desirable.
