Open Positions & Specific Eligibility Criteria
The EHRC enforces strict legal, technical, and language capability baselines. Fluency in Amharic is required across all roles; mastery of additional local regional languages is highly advantageous.
1. Admin Assistant, Cashier & Storekeeper
- Key Focus: Handle petty cash fund reimbursements (regular and donor-funded), verify payment collections, input fixed-asset details into the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS), maintain corporate calendars, track inbound/outbound correspondence, and oversee properties.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Accounting and Finance, or closely related business fields.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience. Knowledge of IFMIS is highly prioritized.
- Technical Skill: Advanced proficiency across the Microsoft Office Pack (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Available Duty Stations: Dessie City Office, Head Office (Addis Ababa), and other regional city nodes.
- Compensation: Base Salary + Standard Institutional Allowances.
2. Translator (English)
- Key Focus: Translate official human rights reports, press updates, articles, legal briefs, and investigative correspondence from Amharic into English and vice versa; manage media relations, coordinate multilingual clearance channels, and monitor public current affairs.
- Education: Master’s Degree (MA) or Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, International Studies, Political Science, Law, or Human Rights.
- Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience for BA holders OR four (4) years for MA holders. Exceptionally strong written and verbal command of English is mandatory.
- Duty Station: Media and Communication Division – Location Specific.
3. Registrar
- Key Focus: Manage the front-end intake of human rights complaints, serve as the principal coordinator for the online/manual interactive Case Management System (CMS), rule on case admissibility thresholds under senior guidance, issue legal summonses, and compile thematic trend data.
- Education: LLB, BA, LLM, or MA in Human Rights Law, International Law, or related legal fields.
- Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience for BA/LLB holders OR four (4) years for MA/LLM holders.
- Available Duty Stations: Arba Minch City Office, Hossana City Office, and other regional branches.

4. Human Rights Officer, Monitoring and Investigation
- Key Focus: Manage individual human rights grievance tracks, conduct field monitoring deployments inside penal/detention centers and active emergency zones, compile investigation logs, draft institutional recommendations, and foster community stakeholder partnerships.
- Education: LLB, LLM, or MA in Law, Human Rights Law, or International Law.
- Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience for LLB holders OR two (2) years for MA/LLM holders.
- Target Location: Bale Robe City Office (and other designated branches).

5. Intelligence, Risk Analysis Management, and Field Operations Senior Officer
- Key Focus: Monitor and model geopolitical and security dynamics within active investigation terrain; issue mandatory written “Security Clearances” prior to field mission deployments; compile threat matrix bulletins; manage Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) networks and GPS fleet software.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Intelligence Studies, Political Science, International Relations, or Data Analysis.
- Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of active experience in threat analysis, risk modeling, or military/civil intelligence environments. Total work history must encompass at least eight (8) years.

6. Safety and Security Coordinator
- Key Focus: Manage central security operations, coordinate central guard rosters, and command Head Office Shift Supervisors; possess sole mandate to design, update, and execute institutional security training frameworks; evaluate technical performance metrics across 13 City Office Safety Officers.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management, Management, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of operational security management experience. Certified Trainer of Trainers (ToT) status is highly preferred.
- Duty Station: Head Office (Addis Ababa).

7. Head Office Premises Security Team Leader
- Key Focus: Supervise daily physical guard deployments, tactical rotations, and residential details; monitor CCTV matrix feeds and entry-point electronic screening gates; log structural safety incidents and issue shift briefs.
- Education: High School Completion Certificate (10th or 12th Grade) paired with certified institutional security training.
- Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a shift leader or team supervisor in corporate or public facility setups.
