Position Overview
The GBV Case Worker will provide case management services to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and strengthen referral pathways for GBV response in the assigned woreda. The position operates under the supervision of the Health Officer and receives technical guidance from the mission GBV Advisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide case management services, including referrals to existing services in the woreda, follow-ups, and updates on referral cases.
- Support updating GBV service mapping and coordinate with other GBV actors in the area.
- Develop and implement individual case management plans for GBV survivors.
- Ensure regular follow-up and implementation of case plans.
- Coordinate with Protection actors to adhere to national and international standards.
- Identify additional needs of survivors and collaborate with internal and external sectors to meet them.
- Provide confidential referrals and follow-up to ensure survivors receive necessary support.
- Support development of GBV prevention awareness messages and assist community volunteers in awareness activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: BSc in Midwifery, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, or related social sciences.
- Work Experience:
- Minimum 2 years as a GBV Case Worker, GBV Officer, or GBV Case Manager in emergency contexts.
- Experience in prevention, response, case management, and program/project development.
- NGO experience is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel).
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of international technical guidelines and standards for GBV.
- Training and experience in supervising and mentoring others.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt quickly, and handle stressful situations calmly.
- Knowledge of the local context is an asset.
