Vision for Ethiopia Association (VEA) is a legally registered local civil society organization working on child and community development interventions in Ethiopia. VEA invites qualified and competent applicants for the following position.


📌 Position: Finance and Administration Manager

  • Reports To: Executive Director (ED)
  • Duty Station: Addis Ababa – Head Office (with occasional field travel)
  • Employment Type: Full-time

🧾 Job Summary

The Finance and Administration Manager plans, organizes, and coordinates the overall financial functions of VEA. The position ensures effective implementation of financial policies, systems, and procedures in alignment with VEA’s mission and values. The role provides leadership, guidance, and capacity building support to finance staff and ensures compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.


🔍 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate overall financial functions of the organization
  • Develop, update, and maintain accounting and financial management guidelines
  • Provide financial management advice, controls, and procedures to the Executive Director
  • Build capacity of finance staff at head office and project levels
  • Ensure financial systems can accommodate organizational growth and update chart of accounts regularly
  • Monitor expenditures against approved budgets on a periodic basis
  • Provide regular financial management support to projects
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of budgets to donors
  • Ensure proper accounting systems are in place and regular audits are conducted
  • Ensure fixed assets are properly registered, identified, maintained, and accounted for
  • Conduct annual fixed asset inventory on time
  • In collaboration with the Program Manager, ensure proper administration of project budgets
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely financial reports to concerned stakeholders
  • Coach, supervise, and conduct performance appraisals for staff under supervision

🎓 Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related fields

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience, with at least 2 years in a senior-level position
  • Experience managing or coordinating finance departments in NGOs is highly preferred
  • Experience working with major donors such as USAID, UN, EU, and others

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Peachtree accounting software
  • Strong computer skills
  • Knowledge of IPSAS is an added advantage
  • Up-to-date financial management training and procedures

🛠 Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint)
