The Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) is Ethiopia’s inaugural and sole organized securities exchange, established as a historic public-private partnership under Capital Market Proclamation No. 1248/2021. Operating as a Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO), ESX serves as the country’s central market organizer, delivering a sophisticated product suite across equities, fixed income, and money market segments.

As ESX accelerates the development of Ethiopia’s capital markets infrastructure, the institution is seeking highly skilled, high-integrity professionals to fill four (4) critical positions at its headquarters in Addis Ababa.

Technology & Security Infrastructure Department

1. Network and Security Engineer

• Department: Information Technology & Market Systems

• Location: Addis Ababa

• Education: BSc or MSc Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.

• Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT security, network administration, network design, or enterprise IT support.

• Technical Competencies & Certifications:

  • Mandatory: Must hold relevant network management and security certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CEH, or equivalent).

  • Proven expert knowledge in network architecture design, structural security protocols, and firewalls.

  • Deep experience in infrastructure hardware/software specification, performance evaluation, and capacity planning.

  • Advanced troubleshooting, diagnostic, and incident-resolution skills to guarantee high availability of critical exchange trading systems.

Legal, Compliance & Risk Management Department

2. Compliance Manager

• Department: Risk & Regulatory Compliance

• Location: Addis Ababa

• Education: BA or Master’s Degree (Second Degree) in Law (LL.M.), Business Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field.

• Professional Assets: Advanced professional certification in specialized compliance, risk management, or financial regulations is highly desirable.

• Core Mandate: Oversee institutional adherence to capital market rules, establish internal audit controls, monitor SRO standards, and mitigate operational risks across exchange transaction layers.

3. Senior Legal Officer

• Department: Legal Affairs & Corporate Governance

• Location: Addis Ababa

• Education: First or Second Degree in Law (LL.B. or LL.M.) from a recognized university.

• Experience Required: 5 to 7 years of progressive experience working in a professional law office or corporate setting, with a dedicated focus on corporate law, commercial transactions, and financial regulations.

• Key Competencies: Comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of capital market trends, industry practices, and business litigation. High computer literacy, superior presentation/written skills, absolute ethical integrity, and a proactive “can-do” approach within a multicultural corporate framework.

Corporate Operations & Supply Chain Department

4. Procurement and Purchasing Officer

• Department: General Services & Supply Chain Management

• Location: Addis Ababa

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Facilities Management, or a related field.

• Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience handling corporate procurement, general services, or facilities management.

• Leadership Threshold: At least 2 years of the total experience must be served in a senior capacity as a team leader, supervisor, or equivalent role.
