The Ethiopian Statistics Service (ESS) is the official central statistical authority of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Responsible for collecting, compiling, analyzing, and disseminating high-quality, reliable statistical data, the ESS powers national socioeconomic development strategies, policy formulation, and census operations. In alignment with our upcoming field research and statistical projects, the Hossana Branch Office is launching an external recruitment pipeline to fill multiple operational contract roles.

Position Track 1: Statistical Data Collector (የስታቲስቲክስ መረጃ ሰብሳቢ)

  • Education: First Degree (Bachelor’s Degree) from an accredited higher education institution in one of the following authorized fields of study:
    • Statistics
    • Computer Science
    • Management Information Systems (MIS)
    • Information Technology (IT)
    • Mathematics
    • Accounting
    • Management
    • Personnel / Human Resources Management
    • Geography
    • Economics
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years or more of verified experience working actively as a data collector or participating directly in field-level statistical data collection operations.
  • Required Quantity: 39 positions

Position Track 2: Statistical Data Collector (የስታቲስቲክስ መረጃ ሰብሳቢ – R.P.1)

  • Education: First Degree (Bachelor’s Degree) from an accredited higher education institution in one of the following authorized fields of study:
    • Statistics, Computer Science, MIS, IT, or Mathematics
    • Accounting, Management, Personnel / Human Resources Management, Geography, or Economics
    • Social Work (explicitly supported by directly relevant field tracking)
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years or more of verified experience working specifically as a field data collector or within formalized statistical data gathering setups.
  • Required Quantity: 8 positions

Mandatory Operational Conditions & Vetting Clauses

To safeguard institutional research standards and field equipment, selected candidates must comply with the following mandatory parameters during recruitment:

  1. Financial Security Bond: Successful applicants must be able to securely provide a formal 100,000 ETB guarantor or bond upon project onboarding.
  2. Private College Quality Mandate: Candidates graduating from private higher education institutions must provide an official Quality and Relevance Authentication Certificate issued by the regulatory educational authority alongside their degree documents.
  3. Geographical Flexibility: Applicants must certify their unconditional willingness to travel routinely, reside, and work across various remote research and data collection study sites managed under the Hossana Branch hub.
