The historical past of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) dates back to the establishment of the State Bank of Ethiopia in 1942. CBE was legally established as a share firm in 1963 and has since played significant roles in the development of the nation. Currently, CBE has over 38.9 million account holders in more than 1,948 branches. The number of Mobile and Internet Banking users has also reached over 6.6 million, and active ATM card holders have exceeded 8.3 million. Additionally, 17 million users are actively using CBE Birr.
