
The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is seeking a highly organized and professional Program Assistant to join the Office of the Chief Commissioner. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operational and programmatic functioning of the Chief Commissioner’s daily activities.
Position: Program Assistant

Office: Office of the Chief Commissioner
Purpose: To provide direct operational support, coordinating schedules, correspondence, and travel to enable the Chief Commissioner to focus on high-level leadership and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule Management: Manage the Chief Commissioner’s daily calendar, providing timely reminders and follow-ups.
- Correspondence: Draft and manage responses to emails and official letters addressed to the Chief Commissioner.
- Coordination: Liaise with the Chief of Staff, Executive Assistant, and Chief Protocol Officer to organize meetings, official visits, and ceremonial engagements.
- Travel Logistics: Arrange domestic and international travel, including transport, accommodation, and detailed itineraries.
- Task Tracking: Monitor and follow up on instructions and action items arising from meetings or daily tasks to ensure completion.
- Office Administration: Ensure the office environment is organized and handle all sensitive information with the highest level of discretion.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
- MA Degree: Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
- BA Degree: Minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience.
- Fields: Public Administration, Management, International Relations, or related fields.
- Advantage: Experience supporting senior public officials or working within National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs).
Skills & Requirements
- Languages: Proficiency in Amharic and English is required; knowledge of additional local languages is an asset.
- Technical: Proficient in office productivity tools, professional email etiquette, and calendar management software.
- Attributes: High integrity, tact, professionalism, and a strong attention to detail.
- Core Competencies: Adaptability, analytical thinking, and proactive problem-solving.
